Dad's Academy is built for families, so a child's privacy matters here. This plain-language placeholder draft explains what we collect and why — it is not final legal wording.

What a parent provides

When you create a family account we collect your name and email, and — if you subscribe — billing details handled by our payment provider (we don't store your card). For each cadet you set up a display name, a grade, and a username and password for the child to sign in with.

What we collect about a cadet

Cadet accounts don't use a child's email or require personal contact details. We do collect:

  • the cadet's display name and grade;
  • their learning activity — questions answered, scores, progress and streaks;
  • on a family device running our companion app, screen-time usage and app/web activity used to enforce the settings a parent chooses.

We use this to run the learning experience, show a parent their child's progress, and adapt the work.

Children's privacy

A cadet account is created and controlled by a parent or guardian, who consents to our collection of their child's information when they set the cadet up. We collect only what the learning experience needs (see above); a cadet account has no email and we do not ask a child for personal contact details, and we do not use a child's information for advertising or sell it.

A parent can review all of their child's information from the parent dashboard, and can delete a single cadet, or the whole family account and every child's data, from Settings → Delete my account and all data. We keep a cadet's learning data only while the account is active; when you delete a cadet or the account, that data is removed from our systems, and backups age out within 30 days.

We intend this product to meet the requirements for children's services under the U.S. Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) — including verifiable parental consent, collecting no more than is needed, and a parent's right to review or delete their child's information — and Canada's Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA).

Who we share it with

We don't sell your data and there is no advertising in the product. We rely on a small set of service providers to run it, each processing data on our behalf under their own terms:

  • Vercel — application hosting;
  • Supabase — database, authentication and file storage;
  • Stripe — subscription payments (we never receive your full card details);
  • Resend — transactional email (sign-in, confirmations, the nightly summary);
  • Anthropic — the AI that powers Pip's lessons, hints and generated practice.

We update this list as our providers change.

Your choices

You can update your details from your account at any time. You can delete a single cadet, or your whole account and all of your children's data, yourself from Settings → Delete my account and all data — this takes effect right away and cannot be undone. If you would rather we did it for you, email hello@dads.academy and we will action it within 30 days.
